Summary

The pharmaceutical industry has a long tradition of producing high quality data to document the value of new medicine. With the increasing production of data, it has become possible to combine the industry’s own data with data generated within the public healthcare system or data originating from the individual patient.

This combination of data has huge potential:

  • It enables prediction of who benefits from the medicine and thus supports personalised medicine.
  • It will make it easier to investigate if the medicine has the same effect and adverse effects in the real world compared to the clinical trials.
  • The ability to combine data silos that are anchored in both society and the industry will allow faster and more personalised medicine.

But how do we put a price tag on data? And how do we ensure that the value of Danish health data benefits Danish society as a whole.
